Backyard Halo was created with the purpose of providing customers a line of natural mosquito repellent and barriers. After years of research and years of blending natural ingredients to achieve the desired outcome, Dr. Joshua Padron created what is known today as the Backyard Halo Mosquito Repellent Formula K. 

All the ingredients selected for this formula were studied and found to be very effective at repelling mosquitoes and helping the skin heal itself. For example, Clove essential oil was used to help prolong mosquito repellency and serves as an antimicrobial. Cedarwood essential oil helps repel ants, ticks, and kills mosquito larva. Rosemary essential oil was used as a natural antioxidant in the formula. The carrier oil Sweet Almond has been found to be a very effective as moisturizing and naturally protecting the skin.

After completing 87 different versions of mosquito repellents, the Backyard Halo Formula K was born. The formula was sent to an independent lab in Georgia for a repellency test. On December 2022, results were received attesting that the Backyard Halo Formula K was an effective mosquito repellent with over 3 hours of repellency at 92% effectiveness. Not too long after, the formula was sent to another independent lab in New York to test for skin irritation. On April 2023, the results received showed that the Backyard Halo Formula K is a non-primary irritant and non-primary sensitizer, signed by a board-certified dermatologist.
